Registrations closing for first APEC 2021 virtual media conference
Registration for the virtual media conference of the first APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM1) of 2021 which will be held on Thursday, 11 March at 08:00 (Singapore) or 13:00 (New Zealand) is closing soon.
Vangelis Vitalis, the Chair of the 2021 APEC Senior Officials’ Meetings, and Dr Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, the APEC Secretariat’s Executive Director, will address domestic and international media representatives focusing on APEC’s priorities for the region as it responds to the economic impacts of COVID-19.
Senior officials will convene on 11-12 March virtually to track progress and plan for the forum to achieve the recently agreed Putrajaya Vision 2040 of an “an open, dynamic, resilient and peaceful Asia-Pacific community by 2040, for the prosperity of all our people and future generations".
As APEC host in 2021, New Zealand is committed to charting a recovery and reigniting growth, leading the forum under the 2021 guiding theme of “Join, Work, Grow. Together” and organising APEC’s agenda around three policy priorities:
- Economic and trade policies that strengthen recovery, with a focus on the right macroeconomic, microeconomic and trade policy choices;
- Increasing inclusion and sustainability for recovery by building back better a society for all people and generating a green recovery; and
- Pursuing innovation and a digitally enabled recovery by accelerating the APEC region’s work in these areas.
